Arson at Fletcher Construction Yard

Police are investigating an arson to the Fletcher Construction Yard in Tapaku Road, Tawa.
The fire was reported by members of the public at about 11.00pm on Thursday 13/02/2014.
Wellington District Crime Squad completed a scene examination and carrying out further enquiries in an attempt to identify the person responsible.
The cost of the damaged caused by the file is expected to be in excess of $1 million.
At about 5.00am the following morning a 54 year old Lower Hutt man was arrested for an arson related offence, that is alleged to have happen in central Wellington at about 10.00pm the previous night.
Given that both offences happened within an hour, Police are investigating any possible link between the two offences.
Police are interested in anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Takapu Road area on Thursday night between 10.00pm and midnight.
We are also interested in anyone who was working in a Service Station or shop between 10.00 and 11.00pm on Thursday 13/02/14 and recalls selling any solvent or petrol in a can.
