SCIRT traffic update this weekend, & week of 17 February, 2014

Coast to Coast this weekend – take care on the Southern Motorway Saturday, midday onwards with cyclists allowed access, also on road to Sumner. http://www.transportforchristchurch.govt.nz/daily-roading-updates/

Safety concern Bridge St bridge, South Brighton: Truck drivers and drivers of heavy and articulated vehicles are reminded that the bridge to South Brighton is currently jacked and on temporary piles. They should not be attempting to cross it. Drivers of heavy vehicles risk a substantial fine and they are also endangering people’s lives. There are two signs and an electronic sign reminding drivers of the weight limits, but some drivers are ignoring these.

Inside/ close to the Four Aves - Ferry Road side busy
• St Asaph St restricted in several places, Fitzgerald Ave to Montreal St.
• Use Moorhouse Ave for crosstown travel.
• Use Fitzgerald Ave or Madras St for south/ north travel, east side of city.
• Use Fitzgerald Ave or Barbadoes St for southbound trips.
• Park Terrace/ KiImore St east side Hagley Park lanes currently reduced.
• Be prepared for a slow route on the block south/ east of Christchurch Hospital - St Asaph/ Montreal, Tuam, Durham.

New access route around the city
Manchester St and the now two-way Hereford St, past the Ibis Hotel, is a new way to access the central city/ Re:START mall area.

Other changes for the week coming
• Colombo St at Moorhouse back to two-way, Tuesday 18 February.
• Tuam St, Antigua to Montreal, (hospital end) back to two-way. (Between Montreal and Durham remains one-way)
