New LITTLE café opens, focused on local suppliers
LITTLE, a new café located at the Little Theatre and Lower Hutt War Memorial Library opened this morning in Hutt City.
A Hutt City Council operation, LITTLE will serve up hot and cold beverages and light bites to eat in a modern space fitted out by award-winning architect Mary Daish.
LITTLE has a focus on using locally-sourced ingredients like organic milk, yoghurt and cheese from Zany Zeus, Bees Blessing cordials (Upper Hutt), and Hardie Boys Gingerbeer (Wainuiomata) with an ethos of quality over quantity.
Frances Speer, café manger said, “While I’m keen to run a café with healthier options for lunch or afternoon tea, I believe there’s few things that can’t be solved with a great piece of cake full of seasonal ingredients.
“I’m also passionate about portion size, which means that at LITTLE there won’t be upsized food items like doorstop wedges of cake, palm-sized pieces of slice or ‘mega-muffins’.”
LITTLE will serve a changing array of fresh, filled baguettes, delicious salads, cakes and other sweet treats.
The café hours are Monday – Friday 9.30am – 4pm and Saturday 10am – 3pm. LITTLE is beside the War Memorial Library and can be accessed from inside it and from the Little Theatre entrance on the Queens Drive side.
