Big weekend ahead in Silo Park with Valentine’s Day flick, pet themed Silo Markets and Tango lessons for free!
The sun has arrived back to Auckland waterfront just in time for the first weekend of February. Although this evening's
cinema screening has had to be cancelled due to foul weather, Silo Park will still host a dynamic programme over the
weekend, starting with Silo Markets on both days of the weekend and new Silo Social this Sunday!
What better way to spend a sunny summer Sunday than having a casual boogie in the park?
Every Sunday afternoon throughout February and March Silo Park will play host to relaxed, free dance classes from
professional instructors teaching line dancing, swing and everything in between. Soak up the fun vibes, enjoy some great
food and drink from the fully licensed Silo Markets and bar (open from 12noon to six p.m.) -- then come three p.m. take
part in a twist or two. If moving to music isn’t your thing, spectate from the sidelines and enjoy the view!
This Sunday 9 February, Swing Out Central will be teaching Swing lessons to anyone who's game in Silo Park. They are the
largest Swing and Blues dance school in Auckland specialising in vintage dances from the 20s, 30s and 40s.
Swing dancing incorporates a group of dance styles that developed through the late 1920s through to the early '40s as a
part of the culture of swing-style jazz music being played at the time. The best known of these dances is the Lindy Hop,
a popular partner dance that originated in Harlem. Join Swing Out Central at Silo Park for this Sunday’s Silo Social -
and don’t forget, there’s dancing to be done every Sunday.
