Auckland Transport helping you get to big events this weekend
Whether you’re off to the NRL Auckland Nines, rapping along with Eminem or taking the family to the Auckland Lantern
Festival this weekend there are public transport options to help get you there and home again.
On Saturday large crowds are expected at all events and at Britomart Transport Centre, as people make their way to Eden
Park, Western Springs or Albert Park in the city.
Alongside regular services there are also special event buses and trains to help move people about. We recommend you
have a travel plan, know where your bus pick-up or departure point is and travel early.
If you plan to continue the party in the city, check for an early Sunday morning bus or train service home.

Passengers are reminded that alcohol and drugs are not permitted for consumption on any of these services. For the
safety of our commuters, any persons who are drunk or worse for wear will be refused travel.
Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines. Eden Park, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February
It’s expected to be a sell-out crowd at the NRL Auckland Nines and if you have pre-purchased a ticket take the
opportunity of included travel on train or special event bus to Eden Park.
If you’re heading west after the event trains depart from Morningside Station, city bound services depart from
Kingsland.
There will be some late night trains and bus services to help get you home from the city.
Rapture 2014 – EMINEM
Eminem takes to the stage at Western Springs Stadium on Saturday 15 February. Gates open 4pm.
Travel on trains, special event buses and the Northern Express is included with your concert ticket.
If you’re heading to both the NRL Auckland Nines and the concert there will be a sign-posted walking route from Eden
Park to Western Springs. It is approximately 3km long and should be a comfortable 30 minute walk.
Train:
Ride into Britomart by train and board a special event bus to Western Springs departing from bus stop 7301 on Quay St.
After the concert, return back to Britomart by special event bus then board your train home. Additional trains will be
running on all lines.
Travel is included on trains up to three hours before the concert starts and until end of service post-concert.
Bus:
All special event buses will leave for Western Springs from bus stop 7301 Quay Street.
Return services from Western Springs depart from bus stop 8123 on Great North Road (between Motions Rd and St Lukes Rd).
From 11pm onwards, special event buses run back to the city centre and the North Shore. The last service departs at 1am
Sunday morning.
The Northern Express service will operate to a regular timetable, stopping at all stations. The last service from Quay
Street back to Albany leaves at 2am Sunday morning.
Auckland Lantern Festival, Albert Park
The annual festival is once again at Albert Park in the central city from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 February.
Scheduled bus services will travel to and from the city, with many services from the southern, eastern and central
suburbs travelling along Symonds Street, a short walk from Albert Park.
There will be some road closures and diversions due to the event.
The Outer LINK service will travel via central suburbs approximately every 15 minutes to the stops on Wellesley Street,
a 5 to 10 minute walk to Albert Park.
Trains will operate to scheduled timetables to Britomart.
Due to the NRL Auckland Nines and Eminem Concert, some additional train services will operate.
Normal fares for buses and trains apply.
Ferry:
Normal ferry services and fares will apply.
Driving:
There will be a number of road closures and diversions in and around these events. Parking will be limited and/or
restricted only to residents. Roads will also be busy. If you plan to drive, ensure you have parked correctly before
leaving your car.
