Vector Network summary for week ending 9 February 2014

There were six fires across Auckland which required urgent attention from our crews to isolate the power at the addresses for safety reasons. Two car v pole incidents marred an otherwise quiet week.

Tree branches fell on power lines in Wainui during the week requiring attention.

A fault caused by branches on lines later in the week caused some customers in Takanini, Brookby and Clevedon to be without power for a short time before repairs were made and full power was restored.

GAS

Contractors working in Devonport struck a pipe while carrying out work. In Ellerslie, a smell of gas was reported. The site was investigated but no trace of gas was found.

PROJECTS

The major cable reinforcement project in Church Street, Onehunga has been completed, one month short of the expected completion date. Several kilometres of trenching and ducting works took place late last year and the cable successfully installed along the route before Christmas. The three-month project was finished ahead of schedule due to extended hours and speedy work by our contractors. The first circuits were livened a fortnight ago, which allows Carter Holt Harvey’s plant to reap the benefits of a more secure supply of power into the area.
