SCIRT traffic update week starting 3 February 2014: schools back first term
SCIRT work in 2014, particularly in the central city, means that drivers need to plan ahead and wherever possible avoid
peak hours if they are driving through the city’s main arterial cross-city routes.
Leave early, build in time, combine trips wherever possible and expect frequent changes to traffic management on busy
arterial routes, is the overriding message from SCIRT and transport planners.
With school children back on Monday, 3 February, drivers need to reassess how long their journeys will take and be aware
that cyclists on the road may be new to the journey also. Traffic volumes will increase at peak hours.
Outside the Four Aves
Centaurus Road: Work on the pressure wastewater pipe in the road for most of February, near the new pump station, means there will be
Stop/Go traffic management in place, so expect delays or take a different route.
Anzac Drive/ Bexley Road between Pages and Breezes Roads: FromWednesday 5 February, this stretch of Anzac Drive/ Bexley Road will be closed to cars7am to 7pm with trucks escorted
through the site. This is a trial closure and the effect on intersections will be monitored over a week to see if it
proceeds through to April. Please be ready for changes on Wednesday. The reason for getting this work done now is to make the most of the dry weather so the road can be well sealed before
winter.
Anzac Drive/ Travis Road expect a slower journey - lanes narrowed.
Inside the Four Aves – more activity in south-east/ Ferry Road
• Ferry Road at Moorhouse Ave and Fitzgerald Ave/ Moorhouse - changes to traffic management over this week, watch
for signs.
• Colombo St north of Moorhouse, south of South City - one-way southbound only continues.
• St Asaph St expect a slower route.
• Barbadoes, Durham, Tuam, Montreal reduced lanes in places.
• Park Terrace - continuing southbound only between Kilmore and Armagh.
