Sunday Bandstand: perfect picnic material
Sunday Bandstand is back for SummerTimes 2014, showcasing outstanding local brass and pipe bands in some of the most picturesque pockets of Christchurch from 2 February – 30 March.
Paul Kean, Christchurch City Council Events Business Coordinator, says the Sunday Bandstand series provides perfect picnic material.
“This year’s venues include the Central Lawn in the Botanic Gardens, a new seaside location near Cave Rock in Sumner and, on one special occasion on 9 February, at Riccarton (Deans) Bush with the All Christchurch Pipe Bands Festival,” he says.
“Sunday Bandstand appeals to the dedicated music-lover looking for impeccably-timed tunes, as well as the casual visitor looking for a sunny afternoon and a pretty backdrop. The music creates a beautiful ambience as people wander around the gardens or play on the beach.”
The Sunday Bandstand concerts are free events, part of the Garden City SummerTimes festival. For more information visitwww.summertimes.co.nz.
