New members sought for Arts funding committee
Are you passionate about the arts in Hutt City? Creative Communities Hutt City has positions open on its assessment
committee. This is your opportunity to be at the heart of the success of the Creative Communities scheme.
The Creative Communities Assessment Committee allocates funding twice yearly to arts projects that fit their key funding
criteria:
• Broad community involvement – to create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in
arts activities.
• Diversity – to support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting
their uniqueness and cultural diversity.
• Young people – to enable and encourage young people (under 18 years) to engage with and actively participate in
the arts.
The Creative Communities Scheme funds come through a partnership between Council and Creative New Zealand.
We’re looking for people with one or more of the following attributes:
• A broad knowledge of the arts environment in Hutt City (this may be specific to a single art form or multi-art
form)
• Strong links into one or more of the diverse communities in the city, including young people (under 18 years)
• An understanding of arts funding processes
• An understanding of arts participation and arts development.
This role is voluntary. It requires approximately one to two days’ preparation for each of the two yearly meetings, plus
attendance at the meetings, which are held in the early evening.
Members of the committee and Council officers will elect new members who enhance the range of expertise and skill across
the committee.
