Schools to turn construction site into mural exhibition

Local primary and intermediate schools will brighten up Laings Road with a mural exhibition in April. Hutt City Council and Naylor Love are inviting all local schools to take part in a competition to express what it is they love about living in Hutt City.

“The murals will be erected around the Hutt City Council offices in Laings Road which will become a major construction site as the buildings undergo seismic strengthening and refurbishment in April. The project is expected to take around two years and the art work will enhance the area and add interest while the work takes place,” says Mayor Ray Wallace.

Scott Duncan, Project Manager, Naylor Love Construction says “We’re proud to be taking on this redevelopment project and look forward to working alongside the local community. We encourage primary and intermediate schools to feel part of this exciting project for the city.”

Naylor Love has donated significant prizes to the value of $4250.

Nick Clayton, Regional Manager of Naylor Love and Mayor Ray Wallace will judge and award the prizes.

Paint will be supplied by local business Resene and Carters will supply the mural panels which will be erected by Naylor Love in April.
