Countdown’s Feed Four for $15 proves popular with shoppers
17 January 2013:Summer meal ideas just got even easier with the latest release of Countdown’s Feed Four for $15 recipes.
Brett McGregor and Jax Hamilton have returned to develop 17 new recipes that are light, tasty, and easy to create on a budget – ranging from fresh summer salads and pasta dishes, to spicy pork burgers, new ways to use seafood and some delicious vegetarian options.
Bridget Lamont, Countdown’s General Manager for Marketing, says the campaign has evolved into its third season and has a very strong following amongst customers.
“Feed Four for $15 has really hit an area of the market we know are looking for inspiring meal ideas that can be managed on a budget. Customers have responded really well to the affordability and creativity that the campaign brings to meal times - so much so that we’ve had to increase recipe card numbers significantly!” she says.
Positive feedback on the affordable inspiration campaign hasn’t just come from customers in-store. Anne Donaldson from Christian Care Budget Service in Papakura says the organisation has successfully used the campaign as a way to encourage clients to stick to a weekly budget.
"People are drawn to the recipe cards which look good, are easy to follow and small enough to stick on the fridge. They use familiar ingredients which can be used in a variety of recipes and many are adapting them to suit their own sized families which is great to see. They’re also proving to be particularly popular with young teens who are enjoying becoming more involved in the household food shop and cooking the meals," she says.
Bridget says the price point of $15 was developed based on Countdown research that showed shoppers were spending around $19 on an evening meal, and has been a good benchmark that resonates well with shoppers.
“I think people have been surprised about the taste and variety of meals they can make for their families for $15, and we’ve worked hard with Jax and Brett so the recipes continue to deliver value for our customers, whether they’re on a budget or looking for inspiration,” she says.
