Notice of water shutdown in Woodhill / Cheviot water supply zone
Water supply to Cheviot Street and surrounds will be shut down overnight on Monday 13 January from 10pm to 6am.
The work is being carried out between Maunu Lane and Maunu Road (SH14); to install a temporary pipeline diversion so
that a new manhole on the sewer network can be constructed. This is part of the SH1/SH14 intersection improvement works.
WDC Water Services Engineer, Simon Charles said that the shutdown is being done overnight to minimise the impact on
residents and businesses in the area.
“Everything going to plan there should be very little impact but we wanted to make sure people are aware of it, just in
case there are any supply issues,” he said.
When the water comes back on it may take a short amount of time to adjust the pressures correctly. Customers may
experience slightly lower or slightly higher water pressure for a time in the morning.
Most areas will continue to receive some water even if it’s at a lower pressure than normal.
Streets that will be completely shut off will be notified by a letter drop.
If people need water desperately, the contractor (Fulton Hogan) will have a water carrier on standby and they should
call the contractor’s project supervisor on 0277 028785 or 0800 PROGRESS.
