Meter reading goes local
MEDIA RELEASE
Meter reading goes local
DECEMBER 13, 2013.
DataCol NZ Ltd has won the contract to
read the district’s water meters over the next three
years.
“Their bid was highly competitive and represents very good value for Kapiti residents,” said Mayor Ross Church.
The $341,000 contract covers three years with DataCol having the right for two, 12 month extensions.
Mayor Church said it was an additional bonus that DataCol NZ Ltd was a wholly owned subsidy of the local power supplier Electra.
“That has got to be good for the shareholders – many of whom are local Kapiti residents.”
The contract covers an initial reading of all meters to establish a data base-line for each meter, two trial readings of all meters early next year, and then quarterly readings of all meters once the new water charging regime comes into effect from July 1, 2014.
The contract covers 22,000 meters.
