Street Improvements Underway In Wanaka

Improvements to the streetscape in Upper Ardmore St, Wanaka, will create a safer environment for pedestrians.

The first four “build-outs” between Little St to the Ardmore – Brownston St roundabout will be finished by 20 December. Another two, on either side of Little St, will be built after 26 January.

The low platforms have the effect of narrowing the roadway, making it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross the road and creating a more obvious distinction between traffic and parked cars.

QLDC General Manager – Infrastructure and Assets Erik Barnes said the new layout would not reduce the number of parks available outside the Post Office. “We have fielded some queries from people concerned about the number of car parks. There will be nine parks including the mobility park, which will now be on the uphill side of the build-out in front of the Post Office,” Mr Barnes said.
