Libraries kick off summer with kids reading programme

Libraries kick off summer with kids reading programme

All eight Hutt City Libraries are set to launch their summer reading programme this Friday.

'Reading Reboot' gets kids aged 5-13 to keep up their reading over the holidays with fun challenges, stamps, a futuristic passport and great spot prizes.

It's free to sign up, which can be done at any of our libraries - Eastbourne, Wainuiomata, Petone, Moera, War Memorial (central Hutt), Taita, Naenae and Stokes Valley.

Kids can choose any books that really appeal to them - whether that's paper books, e-books or audio books.

The challenge has a serious side too, keeping kids reading over the summer break provides an opportunity to maintain and improve their reading skills.

Once they've signed up kids collect stamps for their reading and can get 'bonus points' for doing other reading-related activities like reading to siblings or reading and making a recipe.

Reading Reboot runs over the Christmas period and finishes on 6 January.

You can find the schedule of events associated with Reading Reboot at your local library or on library.huttcity.govt.nz
