Hutt City artists share their talents on High Street
The latest About Space initiative to hit the Lower Hutt CBD is an interactive art exhibition set to impress Christmas shoppers on High Street.
The exhibition, titled This Is Us, features the collective work of mature students from the Learning Connexion tutored by painter Sarah Block.
More than sixty art works will be available for sale at affordable prices and every day during the four week-long exhibition there will be an artist working at their easel available to chat about their work.
CBD Development Manager Cyndi Christensen says About Space is about turning vacant High Street properties into vibrant spaces by encouraging local artists and craftspeople to showcase their talents.
“This is Us is just the latest in a series of successful exhibitions we’ve held in the CBD.
“What sets this one apart is that it’s also interactive. Visitors can talk with the artists about how they approach their work in and will have the opportunity to pick up a paint-brush and have a go. Children can take part in a colouring competition which will be on display for the month.”
Mayor Ray Wallace is also looking forward to the exhibition and may even pick up a paint brush himself.
“Hutt City is home to some fantastic artists and I’m looking forward to seeing some of them in action on High Street,” he says.
The exhibition start today from 10am and will open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm and Saturdays 10 to 1pmand runs until 31 December. You’ll find This is Us at 129 High Street, Lower Hutt.
