Nominations open for 2014 Hastings Civic Awards
Nominations open for 2014 Hastings Civic Awards
Hastings District Council is calling for
nominations for the 2014 Civic Awards.
The awards
recognise an individual, group or organisation that has
contributed significantly to Hastings District. This year
(2013) six individuals were presented with civic awards for
their outstanding work in the community.
Nominations are welcomed in the following categories; arts and culture, health and welfare, sport and recreation, education and youth, new volunteer and youth volunteer.
Hastings Mayor Lawrence Yule says “This is a fantastic opportunity to recognise people and organisations that have given an outstanding contribution to the community.”
Lawrence Yule says “The awards recognise those who make a big difference to everyday life in our community, and I urge everyone to think about identifying members of an organisation or from the wider community who are deserving of a nomination. Volunteers are playing an ever more important role in maintaining a large variety of services in Hastings and those people need to be recognised for their dedication, perseverance and tenacity.”
The nominations will be judged by the Council’s Honours Awards Committee before the awards are presented at a ceremony in early May.
Nominations close on Friday 14th February 2014 and forms are available from the Hastings, Havelock North and Flaxmere libraries and from Council’s Service Centre in Lyndon Road.
Nomination forms can also be downloaded or completed online at www.hastingsdc.govt.nz/community-awards
