Letting Space News: Full programme of TEZA is out!!
LETTING SPACE
We’re pretty stoked to be able to share the full programme for TEZA: the Transitional Economic Zone of Aotearoa next week, 25 November to 1 December, New Brighton, Christchurch www.teza.org.nz/programme. Bestest, Mark, Sophie, Helen and the whole TEZA crew.
Visit this webpage for a day-by-day account of the works, presentations, workshops and discussions. 22 artists are directly involved, seven writers, a host of supporters and volunteers, 30 or more visiting evening presenters and then the participants – you?
We’re six days to opening and for those who can’t make Christchurch there’ll be a steady stream of documentation and writing over the week going through the TEZA Transmission page, with daily bloggers, images and audio from the talks. Our aim is to open up the discussions and work in New Brighton out to everyone.
For those in Christchurch here are a few projects we’d really love your participation:
• If If you are free during the daytime please join Mark Harvey and us at 10am and 2pm daily Tuesday 26th- Saturday 30th to be part collectively of the making of public artwork Productive Promises. As with our last work with Mark this ‘promises’ to be both fun and empowering.
• Phil Dadson is looking for more folks with voices and/or bikes to join his Bicycle Choir. No experience necessary. Rehearsals are 7pm Sunday 25th-Wednesday 28th. We do have bikes you can borrow.
• Kaihaukai on Saturday is about reclaiming and reinvigorating Ngai Tahu voices through sharing. Join Simon Kaan, Nathan Pohio and Priscilla Cowie from 9.30am into the afternoon on the Otakaro River banks, Victoria Square in the central city to share stories, eat mahinga kai and create artworks
• Passionate about changing the media, and seeing those who identify as ‘migrant –settlers’ more visible in our art and media? Join Kerry Ann Lee’s Alternating Currents discussions/workshops in making a zine 5.30-7pm Tuesday 26th –Thursday 28th. Zine launch and BBQ. Sunday at 12noon.
• Everyday in our Creative
Summit we welcome folks for shared lunch from
12noon to meet the creative core and join presentations from
Associate Artists (those either collaborating with our
commissioned artists or joining us for the week to get
involved). Then from 8pm each night join us for discussions
involving a wealth of local and visiting creative talent.
See the people
page for more information on the artists’
participating.
There are many other workshops and
presentations for the other projects but we mention the
above because they are reliant on participation to
happen.
And thanks so much to recent supporters of TEZA who’ve joined the project, Chartwell Trust, Creative NZ’s earthquake recovery fund, and Union Church.
