Regional School of Construction positive news
21 November 2013
The establishment of a Construction School in Wellington is great news for the region, says Business Central Chief Executive Raewyn Bleakley.
"The new Regional School of Construction is an encouraging investment, supporting more people into building and engineering, with wider benefits for the regional economy ," says Raewyn Bleakley.
“It is also a big vote of confidence by the Government in the region and a big tick for our first-class education system.
"With activity in the construction sector expected to grow, the announcement couldn't have come at a better time.
"Investment in skills now will help ease the foreseeable squeeze on the construction industry, driven by pressures from both Auckland housing and the Christchurch rebuild.
"This is positive for businesses looking to build and grow over the next few years. The investment will ensure the construction industry can continue to meet demand as our region meets the challenges of earthquake strengthening, development of Transmission Gully, and new growth opportunities.
"We congratulate Wellington Institute of Technology and Whitireia for working to enable this to happen."
