Great deals for Aucklanders to explore their home turf
Aucklanders are being encouraged to experience more of Auckland this November with 50 to 85 per cent off a range of great activities across the region.
The initiative – ‘Discover the best of Auckland’ – has been launched today by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).
There are more than 25 deals to choose from, including 50 per cent off boat trips to Rangitoto and Rotoroa islands, half price hang gliding and surfing lessons, 70 per cent off a Whale and Dolphin safari and half price entry into many iconic Auckland must-do attractions.
ATEED Manager Tourism Jason Hill says the amazing deals are all about encouraging Aucklanders to get out and discover the best of what the region has to offer so they can share these experiences with others.
“Our research shows that Aucklanders think this is a fantastic place to live, but when asked what tourism activities they would recommend to friends and relatives, they aren’t always brimming with ideas. This is about making it easy for locals to experience Auckland’s tourism offering first-hand to help raise their awareness of just what’s on offer,” says Mr Hill.
The deals are available on the GrabOne website and aucklandnz.com from 13 November to 3 December and they need to be redeemed by 8 December. More than 20 Auckland tourism operators are participating in offering these specials.
This initiative is part of ATEED’s local marketing efforts under its new domestic marketing campaign – AKL: The Show Never Stops – which launches today. The campaign focuses on celebrating that Auckland is a vibrant and exciting region jam-packed with great experiences.
“There’s always a great show to see, but Auckland itself is a show in its own right. Whether you’re kayaking on the harbour, watching a hit musical at The Civic, or walking in the Waitakere Ranges – Auckland is truly a show that never stops,” says Mr Hill.
The campaign is part of the work being done to grow the visitor economy in line with the targets in the 10-year Auckland Visitor Plan. ATEED – on behalf of Auckland Council – aims to double the contribution from the visitor economy, growing it to $6 billion by 2021.
The ‘Discover the best of Auckland’ GrabOne deals are available here.
