This year’s Show has the X Factor

This year’s Canterbury A&P Show will include a special performance from X Factor NZ winner Jackie Thomas who will be performing on the Main Stage on Showday, Friday 15 November.

Fresh from her recent X Factor win, the Greymouth local has released her debut album comprising the 12 songs covered during the popular television competition. Jackie topped the voting polls for seven weeks and is sure to be a hit with Showgoers.

The Main Stage on the MORE FM Village Green will also include performances from one of the finest marching bands in the world, the New Zealand Army Band.

Formed in 1964 as a traditional brass band to perform at state and ceremonial occasions, the New Zealand Army Band has evolved into a unique entertainment unit performing in a wide variety of settings. The incorporation of a rhythm section and vocalists in the 1970’s enabled the band to broaden its repertoire to include swing, jazz, pop and rock. This has seen the band develop as the primary link between New Zealand’s Army and the civilian population, as well as becoming a major recruiting tool for the New Zealand Defence Force. The New Zealand Army Band has also earned an international reputation, performing for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at last year’s 60th Diamond Jubilee Pageant at Windsor Castle.

Bold and brassy, Christchurch duo The Funky Hot Mamas will also be performing on the Main Stage at this year’s Show. Keeping the musical theme throughout the grounds, The Bubblemen will be performing to thirsty crowds in the Tui BaaBaa Bar, alongside comedians Justine Smith and Ben Hurley.

This year’s Canterbury A&P Show will be held Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November at Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch. It is the largest A&P Show in the country attracting 100,000 people, close to 6000 livestock and feature competition entries and 550 trade exhibitors.
