Valve replacement may lead to discoloured water for some residents
Palmerston North City Council is replacing a valve and a small section of pipe on a major trunk main at the intersection of Fitzherbert Avenue and Ferguson Street.
Water asset engineer Dora Lou says the section of the main trunk will be shut down this evening and stay off until Monday, 17 November
The work will not affect water supplies to residents and business however it may lead to some properties experiencing discoloured water particular in the vicinity of central city, College Street, Pahitua Street, Park Road and southern part of Albert Street, Victoria Avenue and Fitzherbert Avenue during morning peak hours.
Residents are advised to:
•
Check water clarity before running the washing machine to
prevent discoloured water staining the washing.
•
Minimise morning peak water consumptions if possible.
•
Run the cold water taps for up to 15 minutes if you do find
the water is discoloured.
• Ring the Council on
356 8199 if water is still not clear.
