Spooky fun guaranteed at Halloween Celebration!
Popular fright night for whole family returns
Mainstreet is once again busy planning for their annual Halloween celebration. “This is one of the most fun promotions we do all year,” admits Mainstreet Marketing Manager Elise Goodge. This year Mainstreet and More FM have come up with a new addition to the event to make it spookier than ever. After the Canterbury Earthquakes all of the tenants moved out of what was Community House, also known as Wakefield Chambers at the corner of Ridgway Street and Victoria
Avenue. With the upper levels of the building almost entirely empty both organisations came up with a plan to turn it into a haunted house, with the blessing of Wanganui District Council the building owners, for Halloween night. “We are really excited about this and so grateful to Wanganui District Council for being so generous with their building,” Elise continues. Each level of the building will have a different theme with each level getting progressively scarier as you ascend. “It will not be for the faint hearted,” Elise assures.
After breaking all their attendance records at last year’s Halloween event; The Whanganui Regional Museum will once again be taking part. The Museum will be open between 3pm and 7pm with frights around every corner and then they will be hosting a Halloween movie screening in the Davis Lecture Theatre at 7.30pm for adults and older children. Attendance to the movie will be by donation and be prepared for some audience participation.
Twenty retailers have joined in this year and will be Trick or Treat venues on the night. Look out for their Trick or Treat posters in the window. Trick or Treating will begin at 3pm for under 5’s only and 3.30pm for all ages. There will once again be free bouncy castles and face painting at Majestic Square to round off the fun.
“There is so much activity all wrapped up into one night and it is all free,” Elise Goodge continues, “We can’t wait to see all the great costumes and families out having fun again this year.”
