Christchuch East Candidate: End all Foreign Aid From NZ
Foreign Aid allocations for 2011/2012 totaled at a whopping $815,000,000 in addition to The New Zealand Defence Force spending more than $300,000,000 dabbling in the affairs of the US lead war in Afghanistan, whilst thousands of people in Christchurch remain homeless due to the Canterbury Earthquakes. We haven't had any say in these foreign aid allocations as our representatives have let us down time and time again.
In addition to this lunacy, The New Zealand Government borrowed all of that money on interest. Our Government debt is 77.5 billion dollars, whereas our Gross Domestic Product lies just shy of 200 billion. Government debt as a percent of our GDP is 39.1%. In summary, our representatives borrow money from overseas, use that borrowed money to give away to other countries when we clearly need it at home, they use our tax dollars getting involved in costly wars that the USA have perpetuated under the pretense of 'finding and bringing to justice one man' who's been dead for more than two years.
If elected, I will be holding referendums on every single issue brought to parliament. Not only will I try to end this tom-foolery to the best of my ability, but will also donate my entire parliamentary salary to Christchurch-East. The People of Christchurch need not carry the burdens of wasteful deficit spending any longer.
Hang in there, Christchurch!
Kind Regards - Adam Holland (Independent Candidate for Christchurch East)
