New Rotorua Mayor Launches Community Leadership Group
New Rotorua mayor today launching Excel Rotorua Community Leadership Group
Just three days since being elected as Rotorua’s new mayor, Steve Chadwick has already rolled her sleeves up and is getting down to business.
Today she hosts the Excel Rotorua Community Leadership Group which is assembling for the first time since the launch of the government’s new locally-driven education initiative.
“Excel Rotorua is an innovative and bold programme offering a unique opportunity to make a real difference for our young people, and to help them craft a positive future.
“It’s aimed at improving educational outcomes and putting in place clear pathways to training and employment – for young people from ages zero to 18 years.
“We’re fortunate that Rotorua is one of ten centres selected to trial this new two-year initiative to help achieve the sort of educational progress our children deserve.
“It’s a chance to build on some of our existing quality educational programmes and organisations, and to take them to a higher level by working together collaboratively.
“For me I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to ensure our future educational direction is locally driven – so we can help solve Rotorua problems by implementing Rotorua solutions,” said Mrs Chadwick.
“The Excel Rotorua Community Leadership Group is an outstanding partnership of Rotorua leaders committed to engaging with the wider community to help build a positive destiny for our young people.”
Mayor-elect Steve Chadwick will be welcoming the Excel Rotorua Community Leadership Group at 1pm today [Tuesday 15 October] in the Council Chamber at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre.
