Wellington Free call for help answered with $111,000

Wellington Free call for help answered with $111,000

Wellington Free Ambulance is extremely grateful to the people of Greater Wellington and the Wairarapa after this year’s street appeal, held over three days in September, raised a total of $111,000.

Chief Executive Diana Crossan said “We are thrilled at the generosity of people across our region. The giving of $111,000 in the street appeal shows we have great support and we hope the public can continue to be generous with their donations throughout the year”.

However, Ms Crossan says it is important that people in Greater Wellington and the Wairarapa keep giving.  “Wellington Free Ambulance is the only free ambulance service in the country and as a result relies heavily on donations to keep it that way. We need to raise around $5 million each year to supplement government funding so we still need help from the public to keep our service free.”
