One Direction and Council help children’s charity take centre stage at concert
Twelve deserving children will get the best seats in the house for tonight’s One Direction concert thanks to the joint generosity of Vbase, Sony Music and Nine Live.
Vbase, the Christchurch City Council governed event and conference facility management company, in conjunction with Nine Live, the promoter of the One Direction Take Me Home New Zealand tour, is giving 12 tickets to Cholmondeley Children’s Charity for tonight’s pop concert.
The children will be treated to the comfort of a corporate suite at CBS Canterbury Arena, complete with food and soft drinks, for the duration of the boy band’s sell-out Christchurch show.
Vbase General Manager Russell Kenny said Cholmondeley was a key charity that they have supported for many years and he was delighted to be able to offer this “once in a lifetime experience.”
“Cholmondeley is such a well deserving charity which is very close to our hearts at Vbase. We get such a buzz seeing the joy that something like this will bring to these children.”
Nine Live Managing Director, Geoff Jones says, “It is our first time bringing an event to Christchurch and we have been amazed to see the city’s recovery which inspired us to give something back.”
Based in Governors Bay, Cholmondeley Children’s Charity provides short-term and emergency respite care for children aged 3-12 years.
Cholmondeley Integrated Services Manager Edwina Poynton says they were overwhelmed to learn about the generous giveaway.
“The children are incredibly excited and they are huge fans of One Direction. This is a dream come true for them.”
