TranzMetro - Tranz Metro services for Tuesday 8 October
There will be some disruptions to services today.
Last updated: Tuesday 8 October 1.00pm
On Monday 7 October, KiwiRail and Greater Wellington Regional Council were advised by the manufacturer of the Matangi trains that the fleet required an immediate precautionary inspection. The inspections are to check that the roll pin on a locking nut on the inter-car coupler are correctly aligned.
KiwiRail have now inspected Greater Wellington Regional Council’s entire Matangi fleet of 48. As a result eight trains have been taken out of service for further detailed inspections as the particular component being checked is slightly out of alignment.
We are working on getting the affected trains back into service as soon as possible but in the meantime there will be some changes to the normal timetable over the coming days. We will continue to regularly update this web page with information as we have it.
We apologise to our customers for this disruption.
