Youth Urge Wellingtonians to Vote – But not for Dinosaurs
Tomorrow at the Harbourside Market from 9:30am-12pm, youth climate change group Generation Zero will be setting up a five metre high inflatable dinosaur and giving out local council candidate scorecards, with a message asking people “don’t vote for dinosaurs”.
Spokesperson Maddy Foreman says: “A lot of people, especially the younger generation, aren’t currently engaged in the local elections so we’re trying to do something a bit fun to grab their interest and get them thinking about voting.”
“We’ve questioned all the candidates to find out where they stand on a number of areas including transport and asked them whether they’ll commit to prioritising action to build a low carbon Wellington.
“Our scorecards hopefully make it easy for people to see which candidates will lead Wellington towards a prosperous low carbon future and which are still a bit stuck in the past.”
