Key decisions from today’s Council meeting

Christchurch City Council met today with the key decisions made outlined below:

Plan Change 73: Rezoning land at Wooldridge Road and Stanleys Road - Final approval
The Council approved a private plan change initiated by Tait Limited and The Tait Foundation. The plan change will rezone approximately 10.3 hectares of land at Wooldridge Road and Stanleys Road in Harewood which is adjacent to the existing Tait Communications factory and offices on Wairakei Road. The rezoning will facilitate the consolidation of Tait Limited's activities and allow for future expansion.

Hei Hei Community to be repaired:
Hei Hei Community Centre will be repaired to 100 per cent of the New Building Standard (NBS).
The community centre, 12 Wycola Avenue, is one of the Council’s top 30 projects for funding, further investigation and, where possible, repair.
The Hei Hei Community Centre suffered structural damage in the earthquakes and was closed last year after a Detailed Engineering Evaluation showed its seismic capacity was one per cent of the NBS. The next steps are to draw up the detailed designs, put the work to tender and begin construction. It is envisaged that Hei Hei Community Centre repairs will be complete by September 2014.

Right turn into Park Terrace to be reinstated
The Council has asked staff to look at the reinstatement of the right turn from Harper Avenue into Park Terrace as soon as possible. Once reopened the road will alleviate traffic congestion for residents and business owners in the area.
