Youth paint themselves with Congestion Free Network
Youth organisation, Generation Zero, got creative yesterday body painting the Congestion Free Network on some of its members in Auckland, showing their commitment to smart transport options. They traveled from Grafton to Britomart by train, handing out their candidate scorecards and encouraging people to vote for the Congestion Free Network this local election.
Spokesperson for Generation Zero, Ryan Mearns; ”We painted the Congestion Free Network on ourselves as bold public statement that we want a commitment to smart transport options from our elected representatives.”
Mr Mearns; “The stunt was received well by the public who were eager to hear more about the Congestion Free Network and how they could make it happen faster.”
The Congestion Free Network is a public transport initiative developed by Generation Zero and Auckland Transport Blog that is costed at 40 percent of the current transport programme of Auckland Council.
Mr Mearns; “The Congestion Free Network is about providing transport choices to Aucklanders. At the moment there are restricted options, but by prioritising investment in the Congestion Free Network, Aucklanders can have the freedom of a fast, frequent, and affordable public transport system”
Generation Zero members also handed out candidate scorecards to help inform the public about which Council candidates would be committed to prioritising funding for the Congestion Free Network.
“The candidate scorecards are an innovative and simple way for voters to get a lot of the information they need to be adequately informed and to vote for candidates who are committed to the Congestion Free Network“ says Mr Mearns.
