Surprises lurking in Pukeiti rainforest

Surprises lurking in Pukeiti rainforest

30 September 2013

Pukeiti’s “encounter the mystery” slogan will take on extra meaning at a family fun Explorer Day on Sunday (6 October).

The young and young-at-heart will be able to follow a mystery trail that reveals some of the secrets of the rainforest – including the bird life, hidden gardens and a new tree house. And along the way there’ll be brain-teasers and other challenges.

“In keeping with the mystery theme, we don’t want to give too much away about the events we’ve planned,” says Greg Rine, Regional Gardens Manager for the Taranaki Regional Council. “But it will be a lot of fun, and rewarding for both children and adults.”

The event runs from 10.30am to 2pm at Pukeiti, 2290 Carrington Road. Bring good walking shoes, lunch and water, and a camera.

Pukeiti’s Explorer Days are part of a year-round programme of free events at Pukeiti, Hollard Gardens and Tupure, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.

For more information, see www.pukeiti.org.nz, www.tupare.info and www.hollardgardens.info. Social media users can also follow the three Taranaki Regional Council Gardens on Facebook (TaranakiRegionalGardens) and Twitter (@TaranakiRG).
