Free blood pressure checks in the WCC Foyer - 1 Oct
Wellington Free Ambulance – Free blood pressure checks in the Wellington City Council Foyer on 1 October
Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics and event medics will be giving free blood pressure checks at the Wellington City Council foyer on Tuesday October 1st as part of a Stroke Foundation initiative.
WFA paramedics and event medics will be stationed in the Council foyer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to check the blood pressure of anyone who wants it taken.
“High blood pressure can cause strokes or heart attacks. This is a good opportunity for Wellington people to have a quick, simple and painless check that could save their lives,” says Wellington Free Ambulance Chief Executive Diana Crossan.
Saturday October 5 is Blood Pressure Awareness Day and the Stroke Foundation along with Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics will be offering shoppers free blood pressure tests at many New World and Pak n Save supermarkets in the region.
Last year 20,000 shoppers had their blood pressure taken around New Zealand, and it is hoped that record will be broken this year.
