The search is on for Petone’s oldest swimmer

HUTT CITY COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE

27 SEPTEMBER 2013

The search is on for Petone’s oldest swimmer

When the McKenzie Baths re-open in Petone in November we’re hoping one of the pools original swimmers will be there to help cut the ribbon.

Hutt City Council is searching for someone who remembers when the McKenzie Baths originally opened 80 years ago in 1933.

“We’d love to find one of the pools original swimmers,” says Stephen Keatley, Recreation Facilities Manager at Hutt City Council.

“As well we being able to hear stories from the pool we’d like to invite them to join the Mayor in officially re-opening the pool on Friday 15 November.”

If you think you are Petone’s oldest swimmer – or you know someone who could be – send your name, age, contact details and memories of McKenzie Baths to communications@huttcity.govt.nz or write to:
Petone’s Oldest Swimmer
Private Bag 31912
Lower Hutt 5040

We will need to hear from you before Friday 25 October. Petone’s oldest swimmer will need to make their own way to the pool and be available for the official opening ceremony on the morning of Friday 15 November.
