More dirty tricks from ex-National Party MP Arthur Anae on the campaign trail

Mana local body candidate Roger Fowler is angry that ex-National Party MP and Auckland City Manukau Ward councillor Arthur Anae has “endorsed” him for the local board.

Anae has produced a leaflet with lots of names of people he suggests people vote for in local boards and gives the impression they also support him.

Using my name without permission to imply I support him is a deceitful, underhand tactic. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t asked any other candidates either.

I am well-known in the community and it’s a special worry to me because Anae supports the proposed new motorway through Mangere and Otahuhu which our Mana team is determined to stop.

Anae told Mana Movement mayoral candidate John Minto last weekend that he supports the road even if it means bulldozing hundreds of families from their homes in Mangere and Otahuhu.

We are 100% opposed to Arthur Anae and what he represents for Manukau.

Mana has a standing-room-only meeting of 200 local residents last Saturday to launch a campaign against this road. We will fight and defeat this road.

I’ve emailed Anae and asked him to reprint his leaflet without my name and to apologise for using it on a leaflet without my permission.
