The Nutters Club Returns to Maori Television

Ground-breaking television series THE NUTTERS CLUB returns to Maori Television on Monday, September 23 at 9.30pm, with more stories of personal redemption, hope and change.

The 20-part series celebrates overcoming personal crisis, mental health challenges and addictions as guests share their journeys in a non-judgmental atmosphere of trust, understanding and encouragement.

This year, the setting for the show is at Newstalk ZB’s Auckland studio, where host Mike King, is joined by resident psychiatrist Dr. David Codyre to welcome new guests to the show each week. Psychologist Malcolm Falconer also features as co-host in several episodes if the doctor is away.

Producer Brian Holland, from Top Shelf Productions, says this is the strongest season of THE NUTTERS CLUB yet.

“The move to Newstalk ZB has allowed us not only a bigger radio audience but a larger studio in which to shoot and the guest roster for the season has been remarkable,” he says.

Guests in the first episodes for 2013 include:

•        former lawyer Aiden Broughton whose brush with bipolar disorder saw a massive change in his life direction

•        at-risk youth workers Haimora de Thierry and Richie Hardcore who lay their own life stories of hardship and redemption out for all to hear

•        X Factor New Zealand’s Bryan Townley who openly discussed the stages of grief involved in losing the love of his life

•        Kawerau mum Michele Elliott who speaks of a parent’s worst nightmare - losing a child to suicide

•       former C4 presenter Helena McAlpine, who has remained refreshingly positive while battling depression and terminal cancer.

THE NUTTERS CLUB is funded by New Zealand On Air and produced by Top Shelf Productions. Tune in on Mondays at 9.30pm to hear more remarkable stories of New Zealanders from every walk of life as they bring into the light topics that often remain behind closed doors.
