Kiwis – tell us what you think about ACC levies
ACC Media Release
17 September 2013
Kiwis – tell us what you think about ACC levies. Your views count.
What do you think about ACC’s proposed 2014/15 levy rates? Do you have any ideas about changes or improvements that could be made to the ACC Scheme?
ACC is asking Kiwis to have their say, as part of its annual levy consultation process, which starts today. This is when ACC makes public its proposed levy rates, and any other proposed changes to levies, for the 2014/15 financial year.
ACC Board Chair Paula Rebstock encourages Kiwis to share their ideas, saying “All submissions are considered carefully, and they do count.
“Various changes to levies have been made because of ideas raised by the public, as part of the levy consultation process.
“Examples include changes to work levy rates, after employers told ACC that the levy they paid didn’t accurately reflect the injury risk of their particular occupation.
“ACC is happy to work with relevant industries or sectors, to explore ways to make levies fairer.”
This year’s consultation period runs until 5.00pm on October 15, 2013, so Kiwis have four weeks to have their say.
The 2014/15 levy rates that ACC is proposing include:
• a 17% decrease
in the average Work levy, paid by employers and
self-employed people
• a 15% decrease
in the Earners’ levy, paid by everyone in the paid
workforce
• a 15% decrease in the
average Motor Vehicle levy, paid by motor vehicle owners (no
change to average motorcycle levy, petrol levy or motorcycle
safety levy).
ACC is also proposing to:
•
change levy classifications relating to the freight
forwarding and merchandising industries
• increase
the maximum experience rating loading from 50% to 75%
• increase the minimum and maximum liable earnings
limits (for work and earners' levies)
• introduce
risk rating for cars based on real-world crash results
• expand the Fleet Saver programme to include
businesses that rent out trucks.
