New i-SITE opens in Havelock North

New i-SITE opens in Havelock North

There are now two i-SITES in the Hastings District with the opening of a new operation in Havelock North.

The former Transformer House on the corner of Te Aute and Middle Roads, which was the home of the Havelock North Visitor Centre, has undergone a transformation to become an i-SITE.

Hastings District Council Promotions and Marketing Portfolio Leader Sandra Hazlehurst says “Tourism is such an important driver of the Hawke’s Bay economy and it’s great that the i-SITE operation has been extended to the key visitor gateway of Havelock North. The i-SITE brand is recognised and respected by locals and visitors alike and the new operation will ensure that the information and service needs of all our visitors are met.”

I-SITE Manager Cat Morgan says “Council can help attract visitors to the region through targeted advertising campaigns but we must ensure that those who come here have such a great experience that they want to return. Our i-SITE staff are knowledgeable and will ensure that visitors to the region are supplied with all the information they require to ensure a wonderful stay.”

National statistics show just how valuable the i-SITE operation is to the tourism industry. Ninety per cent of visitors who use an i-SITE while on holiday make bookings as a result, and around 60 per cent say they would have missed a highlight of their trip if they hadn't visited an i-SITE. The new i-SITE in Havelock North opened on Wednesday September 11th 2013 and a special event to mark the opening is being planned for Saturday September 21st.
