Taste of Auckland Festival Celebrates its Fifth Birthday in Style this November
The start of spring brings new growth, delicious new produce and also the countdown to Taste of Auckland, New Zealand’s pre-eminent foodie festival at Victoria Park, 14 – 17 November.
Tickets go on sale today for Taste of Auckland, which celebrates its fifth year of showcasing the fabulous chefs, restaurants, and food and drink that New Zealand has to offer.
“We’ve seen an explosion of exciting new talent and tastes in New Zealand over the past five years,” says Rob Eliott, of Taste Festival organiser Lemongrass Productions.
“We’re proud that Taste of Auckland has played an integral part in bringing these fresh new flavours to Kiwis and we can’t wait to show off and celebrate all the culinary superstars who have been discovered over the years,” he says.
A host of celebrity chefs, as well as up-and-coming names, will be at the show; these include Josh Emmett of Masterchef fame, Nick Honeyman of Everybody’s Izakaya, Sachie Nomura of Sachie’s Kitchen, and Nadia Lim, previous Masterchef winner, who will launch her book at the event.
A top line-up of restaurants will bring their latest summer fare to the festival which includes FISH, Depot, Everybody’s Izakaya, Baduzzi, The Grove, Toto’, The Commons, and many more.
As a new feature, visitors will be invited to take part in master classes, including the new Plumm Wine Theatre Masterclass with award winning wine writer and educator Matt Skinner. Popular whiskey master classes are also back and this year’s event sees a spectacular line-up of craft beer producers on display.
A massive team of chefs will be back showing off their skills in the Fisher & Paykel Chefs’ Kitchen, while the entertainment will be provided again by the Peroni Bandstand with talent curated by New Zealand’s favourite impresario Peter Urlich.
More than 100 exhibitors will be displaying and giving away the best of their produce and products, and corporate events will be taking place throughout the weekend. Over 25,000 people are expected through the gates throughout the four days of the show.
“This will be our most exciting celebration of New Zealand’s culinary culture yet. We’re counting down the days until the doors open at Taste of Auckland 2013,” says Eliott.
