North Waikato Communities Get $700,000 For Streetworks
Waikato District Council will invest more than $700,000 in roads and street lighting for the Onewhero and Tuakau communities this financial year.
The funding will cover over $450,000 worth of resealing to be completed along 14 kilometres of urban roads in Tuakau, Port Waikato and Pokeno; while $143,000 will be spent on upgrading street lighting.
Port Waikato is allocated $100,000 for kerb and channelling upgrade along Mission Road and around the resealing areas.
Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery Tim Harty says Council is placing an emphasis on improving the overall community environment to enhance the customer’s experience.
“Our focus is to help create a safer environment for communities in the Waikato district and one of the ways we can do that is by improving and maintaining roads, footpaths and street lighting.”
The street works programme will get underway in Council’s summer construction period between November to March 2014.
