$1 million for Waikato Roads and Lights

Ngaruawahia, Huntly, Taupiri and Te Kauwhata will benefit from more than $1 million being invested in capital street works this financial year.

Waikato District Council will spend over half a million dollars on resealing of 15 kilometres of urban roads in the four communities while $170,500 will be spent on improving pavements along Huntly’s Rayner Road. Street lighting in Ngaruawahia and Huntly will also receive an upgrade with $163,000 allocated to the project.

The balance of the funds will be spent on minor works in this area which includes a $50,000
spruce-up for Rangiriri and drainage maintenance in Taupiri.

Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery Tim Harty says Council is placing an emphasis on improving the overall community environment to enhance the customer’s experience.

“Our focus is to help create a safer environment for communities in the Waikato district and one of the ways we can do that is by improving and maintaining roads, footpaths and street lighting.”
