Library to host book swap event on Saturday
ROTORUA 03.09.13: Rotorua Library is holding a free book swap event on Saturday (7 September) to celebrate International Literacy Day which is observed world-wide the following day (8 September).
There will be a selection of good condition ex-library books, as well as donated books, available for people to swap with their own good condition books. Books will be sorted in Children’s, Teens and Adult categories so the whole family can participate.
Library marketing & promotions officer, Sue Heke, said she hoped the event would attract lots of local readers of all ages who were keen to try something new.
“This event allows book lovers the opportunity to exchange their books with something different, and give others the chance to enjoy some good reads that may have otherwise been left to collect dust.
“This year’s International Literacy Day focuses on the need to realise basic literacy skills for all, as well as equip people with more advanced literacy skills as part of lifelong learning.
“Local people can embrace literacy in our corner of the world by sharing a book, having plenty of reading material in the home, and joining our library. Saturday’s book swap encourages this concept.”
Rotorua Library’s book swap is on Saturday 7 September from 9.30am to 4pm.
