Auckland’s Southern Motorway reopens after Police chase

The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers that a section of Auckland’s Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) northbound between the Drury and Takanini interchanges has reopened.

The northbound lanes were closed after a Police pursuit and car crash at midday.

Traffic was diverted off the motorway at Drury on to the Great South Road through Papakura. Congestion on Great South Road remains heavy and the Transport Agency asks people to be patient while traffic clears.

Southbound lanes on the motorway remained opened, although traffic heading south has also been heavy.

Traffic flow (congestion map) is available here: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/current-conditions/webcams/auckland/traffic.phtml
