The harbingers of spring have arrived and that can only mean one thing -- the return of “Daffodils at Timara”.
There is no better way to celebrate the coming of spring than a stroll through 1000’s of bright yellow daffodil blossoms
standing out against the grassy fields of the historic Lake Timara Lodge garden.
The blooms stunning display are sure to make you smile and they bring with them the promise of warm temperatures just
around the corner.
This is the sixth year that Lake Timara Lodge has opened its gates to the public as a fundraiser for Fairhall School.
The garden is privately owned and only open to the public for Daffodils at Timara and during Nelmac Garden Marlborough
tours.
Lake Timara Lodge's beautiful gardens are well renowned with garden enthusiasts throughout New Zealand and are
meticulously maintained by a team of experienced and knowledgeable gardeners.
“The garden does not only change from season to season, but from year to year."
Explains Nicola Macdonald, Head Gardener at Timara.
“Spring is such an exciting time, it’s the time when we get to see the fruits of our labour and we enjoy the spectacle
of the daffodils, which is my personal favourite!
We are so grateful that the owners, Brian and Jan Johnson, generously open the garden so that all people, young and old,
can share this special time in the garden."
But there is so much more to Lake Timara Lodge than daffodils.
The magnificent garden covers 25 acres including a five--acre lake and an extensive and immaculately kept English--style
garden featuring sweeping fully mature lawns, that are great for the kids to play on, native and exotic trees, a
historic arboretum, perfume garden, woodland walk, and a new rose garden featuring more than 350 roses.
“In the past there have been up to 900 people attend Daffodils at TImara, with all proceeds going to help raise money
for Fairhall School, with this year’s project being the installation of solar panels” says Jo Grigg, President of
Friends of Fairhall.
“It ties in well that this exquisite example of nature is helping make our school self sustainable in power use.
We can’t thank the owners enough."
And to round off the perfect day you will be able to enjoy a Devonshire Tea with CPR Coffee whilst the kids enjoy
running around and getting acquainted with Magnum, the pet lamb!
Date: Sunday 8th September – 1pm to 4pm.
Entry is $5, free for primary school children and younger.
Devonshire Tea will be cash sale only.
