Opaheke double homicide - update
27 August 2013 - Police investigating the homicide of Trevor Waite and Glenys Stanton at Ponga Rd, Opaheke are working to piece together the details of their relationship.
It is believed that the pair met through an outdoor enthusiasts website, with a shared interest in hiking and mountain biking. Police are still trying to establish when this was.
Forensic work is continuing at the scene, with the pond at the front of the home to be drained today in a search for evidence. Police are also beginning the process of interviewing friends, family and associates of the victims.
Post mortems on both deceased are being conducted today.
Police are working with both of the deceased families and at least one of the families will be reading a statement for media this afternoon at Counties Manukau Police Station at 4:00pm.
