Kids Invited To Get Creative To Take Their Class To Footy
It’s no secret that Canterbury kids are some of New Zealand’s keenest footy fans. In recognition of this, The Palms
Shopping Centre, in association with the Canterbury Rugby Football Union (CRFU) is helping local kids celebrate their
favourite team through a creative challenge, which could see their class win a trip to the footy and movies.
Canterbury pupils between the ages of five to 13 years-old are being invited to create something that shows what rugby
means to them, as a class or as a school. Whether it’s a collage of the Whitelock brothers, a papier mache of Dan
Carter’s golden boot, or a sing-along song about Colin Slade – it can be anything that depicts pride in local rugby.
All submitted entries will be displayed in-centre at The Palms from 5 to 8 September, for the public to vote on their
favourite. The winning entry will receive a prize bundle including tickets for the whole class to attend the Canterbury
game on 14 September, 2013 and movie tickets for the class to use at a later date at Readings Cinemas The Palms.
The Palms centre manager, Simon Carter believes this is a great opportunity for local young Canterbury kids to work
together and support their heroes in new and exciting ways.
“As a sponsor of Take a Kid to Footy for the 2013 season, we are always looking at ways we can get kids more engaged
with their favourite team. Kids have such creative minds and this challenge has been developed to encourage local kids
to get creative and active. I am excited to see the kinds of entries we receive.”
Entries must be submitted to The Palms Information Desk by 6pm, Wednesday 4 September 2013.
