Police warn Hamilton fugitive should not be approached
Hamilton Police searching for an armed man sought in relation to a series of armed robberies in the City late last week
warn that he should not be approached.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross McKay of the Hamilton CIB said the warning comes after armed officers, assisted by the
Waikato Armed Offenders Squad and the Auckland based Police Eagle Helicopter, cordoned off a Dinsdale Rd property this
afternoon.
"A search of the property was conducted in relation to the aggravated robberies of a Super Liquor store in Lynden Court
on Thursday night, the Tuhikaramea Superette on Friday night and the targeting of a TAB, adjacent to the Hamilton
Workingman's Club on King St, Frankton the same evening.
"Nine people have been bought back to the Hamilton Central Police Station and are helping us with our enquiries, to date
none have been arrested and we are seeking the public's help in locating an identified offender who is still at large."
Mr McKay said that offender, 24-year-old Te Awamutu man, Daniel HAUMAHA, is believed to be armed and should not be
approached by the public.
"HAUMAHA is described as a male Maori, of medium build and about 175cm tall.
"If you recognise him or have information on his whereabouts we urge you not to approach him but to ring 111."
Mr McKay said alternatively, if people had information on HAUMAHA'S whereabouts and couldn't speak to Police directly,
information can be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
