Hornby - suspicious vehicle approaching school children

Christchurch Police are seeking information from members of the public who may have seen a suspicious vehicle approaching school children in or around the Hornby area on Monday 19 August 2013.

At about 8.30am on Monday morning, a 15 year old female student was walking to school along Waterloo Road, Hornby, between Gilberthorpes Road and Hei Hei Road. She was approached by a male driving a dark coloured sedan. The vehicle pulled up alongside the girl and the driver exposed himself to her. The girl moved away but was followed by the vehicle along Waterloo Road for a short distance.

The driver is described as being a dark skinned male, aged about 40 years, with a receding hairline and facial stubble. He was wearing a dark long sleeved top and shirt. The vehicle is described as a dark coloured sedan, possibly blue.

The young girl was upset by the incident. The Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Grant Collins on (03) 3637400, or to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
