New Poll Shows Wellington Mayoral Race Closely Fought
A Newstalk ZB media research poll released today shows the Wellington mayoralty race will be an incredibly closely fought campaign
between the incumbent Celia Wade-Brown and councillor John Morrison.
Wade-Brown’s poll resulted in 31.67% support to continue as mayor, while Morrison sits within arms-length at 25.22%. The
other remaining contender at the time the poll took place, Jack Yan was well back on 4.15%.
Of most interest to Wellingtonians and campaigners, is that a significant 28.38% of the electorate remains undecided.
The Newstalk ZB Mayoral Poll showed Wade-Brown performed strongly with female voters (35.84%) while Morrison scored best with males (36.84%).

Dallas Gurney, General Manager of Talk Programming for The Radio Network says the research poll is something they will
repeat.
“We are in the business of news and it’s logical for Newstalk ZB to be conducting research polls on matters of public
interest.”
Please note: The telephone survey of 486 voters was conducted the week beginning 12 August prior to the entry of former
councillor Rob Goulden and barrister Karunanidhi Muthu. It has a margin of error of 4.4%.ENDS
