ALCP announce City Council and Health Board elections
MEDIA RELEASE - 16/8/13
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party launched its Local Body election campaign today in Dunedin.
ALCP candidate Julian Crawford said he had been nominated for the Dunedin City Council (DCC) and the Southern District Health Board (SDHB) in the October 12 elections.
"Cannabis tourism represents a huge potential
for regional economic development in Dunedin. As the
Southern Regional Manager of the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis
Party and co-founder of a Legalise Cannabis Museum in South
Dunedin, I have seen huge levels of support in the community
for a regulated model, which introduces age-restrictions as
well as GST on retail Cannabis and Hemp transactions," Mr
Crawford
said.
"Cannabinoid medicines are a rapidly emerging industry offering new hope to patients with a range of chronic conditions. If elected to the Southern DHB, I will promote the introduction of targeted cannabinoid medications following clinical trials, in conjunction with the University of Otago. Preventative steps will also help improve healthcare in the region."
Mr Crawford said he would attend a 420 protest on the Otago University campus as well as an Anti-GCSB Bill rally in the Octagon this afternoon.
